Taylor Hicks Unhappy With ‘Drunk’ Comment

It seemed like such a classic Simon Cowell comment. At the end of American Idol finalist Taylor Hicks performance on Wednesday, the snappy Brit playfully asked - ‘are you drunk?”
It appears that Hicks was unhappy with the comment.
TMZ reports that they have learned that Hicks was offended by Simon Cowell’s remark as back in his hometown, Taylor has dealt with others affected by alcohol.

We’re told Taylor will occasionally have a drink, but he is definitely not a drinker. While on ‘Idol,’ Taylor is strictly business, often drinking milk with dinner. Indeed, when two of his close friends visited recently, the friends downed beer after beer while Taylor limited his intake to Coca Cola.
Sources say that Taylor was so upset with Simon’s “drunk” comment that he almost said something on the air, but resisted. After leaving the stage, Taylor made it clear that he was upset.
Brian Less of the Taylor Hicks Band back in Alabama told TMZ recently: “Right now, he (Taylor) knows that he’s got to stay focused out there and do his best. So, Corona’s not going to help him!”
Wait - doesn’t a Corona always help?
Taylor is virtually locked into the top three at this point. Unless he really goes flat one week, Simon’s comments won’t matter.
I was also disgusted, knowing that Taylor is drinking milk. Because he was giving enjoyment and enjoying himself while doing it, does he have to be accused of being “drunk”. That was so out of order. But then again, has Simon ever given Taylor an unqualified compliment. There is always a BUT with him. We all know why of course and hopefully the soul patrol will show him that we do not care one iota and our man will still win because he is the best.
Good for you Taylor! I respect you and your choice not to air your displeasure and make it more of an issue. Simon needs to apologize. He has no tact when it comes to htose things. He has said that before, but it had a more joking air about it.

Gaaah! I’ve said this many times and I’ll say it again - Simon is a complete boob. Seriously, I could do without him AND Paula for a few weeks. I mean, if anyone is getting drunk on this show, it’s bask-in-the-glory-days Abdul, with her drunken swaying in the middle of songs and her over-enthusiastic bumbling and clapping. So pat on the back to Taylor, who doesn’t feel the need to get drunk (unlike Paula) to have a great time on national tv.
I just think that when Taylor is being his authentic self, there is no one better than him. I fell in love with him the minute he auditioned and I love to watch him sing. The more passionate he is about his music the better he is. I personally can’t wait to see him performing in his own personal concerts! He is what real music is about. He has a true gift of touching one’s soul.
