Grammy Nominations: Justin vs. Christina

So it’s that time of year again, ladies and gentleman. The 49th annual Grammy Award nominations come out Thursday morning at 11:30 AM (ET) and it’s seeming like a bland Beyonce song (Yeah..Deja Vu). Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera are most likely going to be yet again up against each other in the Pop Vocal Album category like they were years ago when Justin’s debut album Justified was nominated along with Christina’s sophomore effort Stripped.
That year, Justin took the award–his album had better reviews, though Aguilera had sold more copies. This time around, both of their albums are pretty neck and neck with the critics but Justin has had bigger hits and bigger sales due to the commerciality of his album.
Some are saying John Mayer is the dark horse to win, as Aguilera and Timberlake could split the vote, giving him an easy shot at the Grammy, but I still think one of the two former Mouseketeers has it in the bag.
I’m hoping and praying that Christina takes the award, as she’s yet to win a single award for her albums–only for collaborations and vocal performance, then of course the one for Best New Artist. Justin’s album is good–but honestly pales in comparison to the creativity that went into Back to Basics, and let’s not kid ourselves here–FutureSex/LoveSounds is essentially a child of Prince.
Unfortunately I’ll be in class giving a presentation when the nominations come out but I’m JETTING to the nearest computer once it’s over to find out if Miss Aguilera garnered herself some well deserved nominations.
