Posted under Julia Roberts, Movies, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Tom Hanks, Trailers by Chris Evans on Friday 9 November 2007 at 11:42 am

I’ve waited YEARS for the box office king and queen to unite and finally it’s happened and the film has arrived. Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, and Philip Seymour Hoffman star in this war drama about a congressman’s covert dealings in Afghanistan.

The movie comes out on Christmas day.

Julia Roberts In Vanity Fair

Posted under Celebrities, Julia Roberts, Vanity Fair by Chris Evans on Tuesday 6 November 2007 at 11:28 am

One of my favorite Hollywood actresses Julia Roberts opens up about young Hollywood, the press, children, and her career in the new Vanity Fair.

Julia on the frenzy surrounding today’s young celebrities: “I think it’s just grotesque. It’s like a circus sideshow. I don’t know why anybody would even want to go into show business these days, with all of the different magazines and shows. It just wouldn’t be worth it. And it’s too fast. Before, you could build a career over years and many movies. Now it’s like you do one good movie and they throw a ton of money at you and a ton of attention at you. You’re being constructed outside of yourself before you even know who you are, and what you are, and how you want to do it, and why you want to do it.”

Julia on paparazzi taking photos of celebrities’ children: “I just feel like it’s so demeaning the way they behave, and I hate the fact that I even put any of my energy into thinking about it or being stressed about it. And really, more than anything, it just has to do with my kids. There’s no reason to take pictures of celebrities’ children other than for people to say, “Oh, they’re cute.” I think magazines shouldn’t run pictures of people’s kids. I have a problem with that. I also have a problem with the whole notion that, if I have Henry in a sling, I’m hiding him. He’s a baby and I’m carrying him around, and so’s the lady across the street. I get pissed off, because I think that it’s inhuman to chase a woman with her children.”

Julia on how celebs are just like normal people: “We’re all the same. Why can’t we get on board with this? That we’re all the same. Some have cooler jobs, some have less cool jobs, some have longer legs, some are nicer people, but we’re all the same. We’re all orbiting the same sun.”

Julia on diapers: “I use Seventh Generation [chlorine-free, nontoxic] diapers for Finn and Hazel, and then I was turned on to the [plastic-free, flushable] gDiapers. Henry’s got a gDiaper on.… I would recommend them overall. It is flushable, but you’ve got to stir that thing! If you don’t really break it all the way up, it doesn’t go all the way down.”

Julia on if her kids wanted to get into acting: “I would call Natalie Portman’s mother. Natalie is such a good actress, but she seems like such a sensible person. I asked her about it one day when we were doing Closer, and she said she only worked with people that her parents trusted, and she only worked when it didn’t impact her school. So there were definitely guidelines. No one does it that way, but they did it, so it can be done. I hope I don’t face that, though, because I think kids should be kids and childhood should be filled with … you know that smell, when your kids come in and they smell like dirt and sweat and sunshine? That’s what I hope for my kids.”

Julia on how it felt to be the first woman to earn more than $20 million [for Erin Brockovich]:“Just as good as it would if you were a man, I bet. I mean, I guess I shouldn’t belittle it like that. I should take pride in being a forerunner, even if it’s something that seems kind of stupid, like being overpaid for a great job. But I don’t really think about it. Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas was my agent then, and she took a real position, as a woman in the industry representing a woman, to make strides in that way. So she really deserves credit. It was really a thing for her.”

Julia on getting back into shape after having children: “I have been working out, but listen, it is 97 percent genetics. Don’t let anybody tell you any crap about anything else, because that’s what it is: 97 percent genetics and 3 percent just get your ass moving. Because I’ve never met a cookie I didn’t like.”

Can’t wait for the new movies she’s got coming out soon.

Julia Roberts Gets Honored By American Cinematheque

Posted under Awards, Celebrities, Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Tom Hanks by Chris Evans on Saturday 13 October 2007 at 12:46 pm

Julia Roberts was honored by American Cinematheque with the help of her pals and co-stars Tom Hanks, and Natalie Portman.

Julia said:

“I think I came along at a kinder time in the business. It wasn’t about fashion, and there weren’t so many media outlets, it was just kind of different. You could really cultivate your work a little more gently.”

More pics after the jump.

Sandra Bullock & Julia Roberts Among OK Magazine’s Richest Women

Posted under Celebrities, Christina Aguilera, Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey, Sandra Bullock by Chris Evans on Thursday 19 July 2007 at 8:58 pm

Premonition may have sucked and bombed, and Perfect Stranger may have been as embarrassingly bad as its gross at the box office, but I suppose Sandra Bullock and Halle Berry are still doing pretty well for themselves financially.

SANDRA BULLOCK, MADONNA, JULIA ROBERTS and NICOLE KIDMAN have made it into the top five of a new list of rich celebrities. The quartet was beaten only by Oprah Winfrey in the OK! magazine Top 10 Female Breadwinners countdown - she topped the list with a $1.5 billion net worth. The publication’s top 10 also featured Christina Aguilera, Halle Berry and Jessica Alba, the youngest star on the list.

Glad to see my girl Christina on the list, and of course the Queen Oprah. Can anyone remember the last time Nicole Kidman even released a movie? And how the hell is Jessica Alba’s no talent ass on the list?

Fresh Links: Alec Baldwin To Leave 30 Rock?

Posted under Anderson Cooper, Desperate Housewives, Gay, Golden Globe Awards, Julia Roberts, Katherine Heigl, Movies, Television by Chris Evans on Thursday 26 April 2007 at 4:36 am

After being publicly humiliated after a nasty voice mail he left for his 11 year old daughter was leaked, leaving his agency, CAA, and dragging Kim Basinger back into court, Alec Baldwin is now asking NBC to let him out of his 30 Rock contract early so that he can spend more time with his family. Instead, he needs to just get a really good therapist.

It seems the Golden Globes are no longer afraid of the Desperate Housewives. After shifting their telecast to Monday nights to avoid competition, they are now moving the show back to Sunday nights despite seeing a large ratings increase from 2006 and topping off with 20 million viewers. I think one of Nicollette Sheridan’s tits can take down the Globes all on its own.

Even after all these years Julia Roberts is still one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, and even while pregnant. Here’s some recent pics of her while exiting her trailer on the set of her new movie with Ryan Reynolds, Fireflies In The Garden. The movie, which comes out in 2008, also stars Hayden Panettiere and Carrie Anne Moss.

There’s a current debate over whether CNN hottie Anderson Cooper showers at the gym in the nude, or with underwear on. Page Six claims that in the new age of the camera phone, you can never be too careful, so Anderson refuses to shower in the buff–given the attention he gets from both sexes. Whether he’s in underwear or naked, the point is–Anderson Cooper…wet. Pictures, please.

Four of the Spice Girls, Sporty, Baby, Ginger, and Posh, reunited for the christening of Geri Halliwell’s baby Bluebell this past weekend. Unfortunately, Scary–Mel B, could not attend–as she had just recently given birth to a newborn baby of her own. Baby looks pretty bad, though she is four months pregnant. I really wish they would do a reunion tour. I’d totally do drag.

Grey’s Anatomy beauty Katherine Heigl has signed on to play the lead role in the romantic comedy 27 Dresses. Written by the screenwriter of The Devil Wears Prada, it’s a film about a woman who has been a bridesmaid 27 times, and once again she is enlisted to play the role, but this time it’s her sister’s wedding, and her sister is marrying the man she’s in love with.

Dryden Mitchell, the lead singer of rock band Alien Ant Farm (you might remember them for that cover they did of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal so many years ago), has bared it all for a new tour DVD the band has released called Busted. You’ll either find it really hot, really hilarious, really disturbing, or all three. Straight men are puzzling creatures.

Disney recently announced that production has finally started on the third installment of the Toy Story franchise. The film will come out in 2010, and both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have signed back on to voice Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Hopefully it’ll be just as good as the first two movies, and not just some lame attempt to cash in on nostalgia. Bitches.

First Picture From Charlie Wilson’s War

Posted under Julia Roberts, Movies, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Tom Hanks by Chris Evans on Sunday 14 January 2007 at 5:42 pm

Yes! The release of Charlie Wilson’s War nears and the first still from the film has been released. Granted…it still doesn’t come out ’til Christmas, but that shouldn’t stop me from being excited already should it? It’s my girl Julia Roberts’ first real return to the big screen in a while and it stars the always wonderful Tom Hanks and recent Oscar winner Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Also throw in Junebug’s Amy Adams as well as Roswell’s Shiri Appleby.

Return of the Box Office King and Queen!

Meanwhile, here’s a recent cover of Life magazine which featured Julia and her Charlotte’s Web co-star Dakota Fanning. Charlotte’s Web didn’t fare so well at the box office, especially considering the highly famous celebrity ensemble cast–it has only made about 75 million in the US thus far, but this was a competitive season for family movies.

Fresh Links: Lindsay Lohan Gets Abducted

Posted under Broadway, Hugh Jackman, Jesse Metcalfe, Julia Roberts, Lindsay Lohan, Movies, Television, Weeds by Chris Evans on Saturday 18 November 2006 at 11:34 pm

Lindsay Lohan is getting abducted by a serial killer.

Hugh Jackman is definitely no amateur, but he wants to play one.

Thank you Jesus! Showtime greenlit a third season of Weeds.

I prefer the sequel, but nonetheless Sister Act is coming to Broadway.

The crazy bitches from Flavor of Love 2 are going to charm school

Wtf. Robert De Niro and 50 Cent are co-starring in a movie about Katrina.

Desperate Housewives hottie Jesse Metcalfe is “loaded“.

The first Inside Man underwhelmed me but maybe the sequel will be better.

My girl Julia Roberts is taking up knitting.

Fresh Links: Hugh Jackman Says Wolverine Script Is Finished

Posted under American Idol, Celebrities, Gay, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Aniston, Johnny Depp, Julia Roberts, Lost, Movies, Nip/Tuck, Sandra Bullock, Television by Chris Evans on Thursday 19 October 2006 at 7:59 pm

Hugh Jackman says the script for the Wolverine prequel is finally finished.

Nip/Tuck creator and director of Running With Scissors Ryan Murphy is adapting and directing a film called “Eat, Pray, Love” that Julia Roberts will star in.

NBC better get their asses back to the drawing board because their Fall sitcoms are crashing and burning. Hmm..could explain why they just fired 700 employees.

A new Sandra Bullock comedy is being developed called All About Steve where she plays a brilliant crossword puzzler that stalks a TV news camera man.

Talledega Nights star Sacha Baron Cohen is set to star alongside Johnny Depp in the screen adaptation of Sweeney Todd.

The season finale of Flavor of Love gave VH1 its highest ratings in the history of the network. It’s a sad day when VH1’s programming kicks MTV’s ass.

CBS’ crime show Criminal Minds takes down ABC drama “Lost” for the first time.

Jennifer Aniston’s eyeing to star in a new dramedy written by the screenwriter of Hollywoodland.

American Idol season one contestant RJ Helton just recently came out of the closet. I kind of knew he was gay back when he was on American Idol, but I was also in love with him so I thought maybe it was just wishful thinking. Now I know my gaydar really is the shit. He was my fave before I heard Kelly Clarkson sing “Respect.”
