Jake Gyllenhaal To Accept Human Rights Award

It’s been a good January for Brokeback Mountain star, Jake Gyllenhaal and its director Ang Lee. They scooped four gongs at Monday’s Golden Globe awards and are now to be honoured with the Human Rights Campaign’s Equality Award at next month’s Greater New York Gala Dinner.
HRC President Joe Solmonese asserted of Brokeback Mountain and fellow Golden Globe winner, Transamerica:
“These two films have ignited a firestorm of honesty that is sweeping the nation.”
“At dinner tables across the country the conversation about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality is being informed with true portrayals of American life.”
Solmonese continued on the HRC website: “We are honored to be awarding both Jake Gyllenhaal and Ang Lee with the Human Rights Campaign’s Equality Award.”
“Their work on this film has helped reshape the debate and changed the cultural fabric of our country.”
And given men and women around the world a chance to drool all over the delectable Gyllenhaal…
